MYSTIC GOSPEL 2024:
Moving Forward, Looking Back

Experience the power of singing gospel music with as many as 200 others as part of the Mystic Chorale, led by award-winning director and composer, Jonathan Singleton. Join us as we prepare and sing a spirit-filled concert featuring an eclectic mix of music rooted in the African-American gospel tradition.

“Mystic Gospel: Moving Forward, Looking Back” will be charting the progression of gospel from its origin in the spirituals and the blues to today’s modern contemporary sound. We’ll perform a diverse program featuring the music of many artists including Aretha Franklin, Rhiannon Giddens, jazz guitarist Jonathan Butler, gospel giant CeCe Winans, and gospel choir great John P. Kee; all united by messages of love and unity. Singing, clapping and dancing along with the chorale is strongly recommended!

HEALTH & SAFETY

• Vaccination Required: Proof of full vaccination, including at least one booster, will be required of everyone in the sanctuary – including singers, volunteers, staff, the music director, and musicians.  A singer who has not had a booster shot will be required to bring evidence of a negative Covid test to reahearsal each week.
• Masks Optional:  Singers may sing masked or unmasked, as a matter of their personal comfort and preference.  We ask unmasked singers to stay aware and respectful of masked singers who may want to keep their distance from others without masks.

You can sign up to sing as an in-person singer or a virtual singer.

VIRTUAL SINGING OPTION – For those who wish to participate from afar or who simply aren’t ready for live singing, we are excited to offer the option of joining as a virtual singer. The rehearsals and concert will be livestreamed and recorded, and the recordings will be posted on the Mystic Chorale website a few days later.  All virtual singers will receive PDF files of the music packet and access to all practice materials.

Please note that virtual singers may not perform in the concert, but you will receive a free livestream concert ticket as part of your tuition.
