Join the Mystic Chorale’s 150+ singers from throughout the US as we culminate our fall season with a virtual concert and celebration! Under the direction of Mystic’s Founder and Artistic Director, Nick Page, WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN has been a lively season of online music-making, honoring the musical roots of who we are as Americans. Our celebration features singalongs, live performances, and the premiere virtual choir videos created by Nick Page and members of the Mystic Chorale, including performances from Louise Grasmere and our slam poet friend Regie Gibson.

We hope you’ll join us for a fun, uplifting and celebratory evening of music and community!

More about the music:

Mystic Chorale has a tradition of singing a variety of musical genres, including Gospel, Spirituals, Blues, Jazz, Broadway and Rock.  This season our focus has been on “country western,” with the music of artists like Rhiannon Giddens, who honors both the European and African roots of country music.

At our celebration we pair Will the Circle Be Unbroken, with another prayer of mourning, Your Long Journey, as made famous by Allison Kraus and Jimmy Page.

We honor the memory of long-time Mystic singer Pat Mitchell by performing her favorite song, The Judds’ Love Can Build a Bridge, with powerful lyrics, “Love can build a bridge between your heart and mine. Don’t you think it’s time?”

By adding pedal steel guitar, Nick Page, who loves mixing musical traditions, turns Thanks Be To Thee, a Baroque aria by Handel, into a gentle country gospel song.

Mystic’s slam poet friend, Regie Gibson, is featured on one of the choral videos, performing Call Me American, which celebrates the strength that comes with our nation’s diversity.

Louise Grasmere and Linda Shoemaker sing We Rise, a new women’s anthem by Rhiannon Giddens, with more lyrics that resonate in these turbulent times: “Hand in hand we stand as one.  We push, we reach, we rise.”

The evening features several solo performers, including our new friend in Washington state, Kerri Lynn Nichols, who will join with her husband to sing Tim McGraw’s Humble and Kind, one of the great love songs of all time, which is guaranteed to melt your heart.
