Experience the power of singing gospel music with 150 singers as part of the Mystic Chorale, led by award-winning director and composer, Jonathan Singleton. Join us for a spirit-filled concert featuring an eclectic mix of music rooted in the African-American gospel tradition.
“Mystic Gospel: The Gospel of Jazz” will be exploring the unique connection between two great American music forms, gospel and jazz. We’ll perform a diverse program featuring the music of many Jazz and gospel artists including Duke Ellington, Kirk Whalum and Walter Hawkins. Our special guest soloist will be Renese King, featured soloist with many choruses and orchestras including the BSO, the Boston Pops and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. Songs will include Marvelous, Let’s Have Church, Hold On, I’ll Trust You, Oh, Happy Day, Come Sunday, Run On, Again, I Say Rejoice, Why I’m Here, I Go to the Rock, Take Me to the King and With a Little Help from My Friends.
