THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SINGING

Led by Mike Pfitzer

With Special Guests, Opera On Tap, Boston

From our happiest moments to our most troubled times and everything in between, music has always helped people express, react to, and process our most complex emotions. Mystic Chorale’s fall concert, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SINGING, celebrates the power of music and community singing to expand our joys, share our sorrows, and improve our mental wellness.

The program includes Jewish-American composer Linda Hirschhorn’s There Will Always Be Singing, an anthem for many during the pandemic; Akanamandla, a protest song sung during South Africa’s Apartheid era; Trilo, a Swedish prayer song for the safe return of boats; a community singing version of Simon and Garfunkel’s hit Bridge Over Troubled Water; and popular modern folk songs – the Wailin’ Jennys’ One Voice and Brandi Carlile and Alicia Keys’ A Beautiful Noise.

About Opera On Tap:
Opera On Tap (OOT) is a collective of singers dedicated to singing outside the box. OOT was born in 2005 at Freddy’s Bar and Backroom in Brooklyn and incorporated in 2007. They arrived in Boston in 2012, with the goal of creating new performance opportunities for the city’s vibrant classical singer community.  With live shows in unconventional venues ranging from public parks to bars to farmer’s markets across greater Boston, they have introduced audiences of all ages and cultural backgrounds to opera in performance formats that are fun, inclusive and accessible.

OOT singers will join Mystic on stage for several songs, and promise to get you singing along, too!

Join 150 singers led by guest director Mike Pfitzer for this special concert!
