Christina DeVaughn

Soprano Christina E. DeVaughn, a native of Boston, received her master’s degree in opera performance from the Boston Conservatory, where she was the recipient of the Boston Conservatory Music Division Scholarship. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, where she received the Benjamin S. Carson Scholarship Award and the Joan C. Higgins Prize in the Arts.

For over twenty years, she has performed as a soloist in Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity, produced annually by the National Center of African-American Artists. She has also been a soloist for Gospel Night at the Pops and with The Orchestra of Indian Hill, The Key West Symphony Orchestra, Pine Valley Symphony and Cape Cod Opera. She has worked with Boston Lyric Opera, the Cambridge Lieder and Opera Company, Chorus pro Musica, the Cantata Singers, and Landmarks Orchestra.

Enjoying a wealth of experience in multiple genres, Christina has performed on three gospel music recordings and many other musical projects, as well as in recitals, community events and religious functions in the New England area.  She currently serves as the Music Ministry Assistant at the historical Myrtle Baptist Church in Newton, MA.

She is the proud parent of one miracle daughter, Kyrieh.
