Led by Mary Cunningham

with special guests Matt and Shannon Heaton

If you’ve always thought of Celtic music as solely Irish, you are in for a surprise as Mystic Chorale’s CELTIC ROOTS season takes you on a fabulous musical journey through all the Celtic lands, exploring music from throughout the British Isles, into France and Spain, and right home to North America! You’ll sing spirited, uplifting and heartfelt songs, music that touches the world with its wild and soulful strength.

Join 150 Mystic singers, led by Mary Cunningham and accompanied by a fabulous Celtic band, as we explore the romance of the Scottish ballad of Wild Mountain Thyme, the heartbreaking story of Isle of Hope Isle of Tears, the amazing resilience of We Rise Again, the rollicking Irish Rocky Road to Dublin and Dulaman, and celebrate the spring like pagans with Cornwall’s Hal an Tow.  We’ll venture on to the western shores of Europe’s coast with the buoyant A Rianxiera from Spain’s Celtic region, Galicia, and finally circle home with well-known American Bluegrass anthem of hope and perseverance, Will the Circle Be Unbroken.

Boston’s beloved Irish duo, Matt and Shannon Heaton, will join the choir for several songs, lighting up the stage with their masterfully crafted music, husband-and-wife harmonies, and instrumental virtuosity.

Ten weeks of rehearsals begin March 7th, 7:30-9:30 at First Parish Church, 630 Mass Ave, in Arlington. We will perform a concert at Cary Hall in Lexington on May 19.

Join us this spring for an unforgettable Mystic Chorale experience!

You can sign up to sing as an in-person singer or a virtual singer.

VIRTUAL SINGING OPTION – For those who wish to participate from afar or who simply aren’t ready for live singing, we are excited to offer the option of joining as a virtual singer. The rehearsals and concert will be livestreamed and recorded, and the recordings will be posted on the Mystic Chorale website a few days later.  All singers will receive PDF files of the music packet and access to all practice materials.

Please note that virtual singers may not perform in the concert.

During these times of Covid, Mystic’s #1 priority is the health and safety of all. We are paying close attention to the latest guidance from the CDC and other sources regarding the spread of the virus and its variants and recommended safety precautions for singing.

We are setting our safety protocols above and beyond what the State of Massachusetts requires. Accordingly, everyone will be required to show proof of full vaccination (including a Booster shot or show proof of a negative Covid test result each Tuesday), wear masks, and confirm a health attestation each week. Any singer who is not feeling well or has been been exposed to someone with Covid will be asked to stay home and watch the livestream simulcast of the rehearsal.

As the season progresses, we will continue to follow CDC and State guidelines and the latest advice from choral singing experts regarding masking and other health protocols.
