Spring 2024:
SEASONS OF CHANGE

led by Mike Pfitzer

10 Tuesdays, March 12 – May 14, 7:30-9:30
First Parish of Arlington

This spring Mystic Chorale embarks upon SEASONS OF CHANGE with Mike Pfitzer, our fantastic now-official music director! We will reflect on the four seasons of the year – each with its own highs and lows and moments of beauty and struggle – and the parallels between the changes in weather and the ebbs and flows of our lives.

Join more than a hundred Mystics as we explore a wide variety of styles, including The Fantasticks’ Try to Remember, Carole King’s You’ve Got a Friend (which reminds us that our best friends are there for us in all seasons), Mamas and Papas’ California Dreamin’, Joni Mitchell’s Circle Game, Pete Seeger’s Turn, Turn, TurnSeasons of Love from the musical Rent, and more!  The concert will also include some Nick Page arrangements, connecting seasons of Mystic’s past and present, including Mystic favorite, Every Day is a Day of Thanksgiving.

We’re delighted to be joined this spring by Keith Murphy and Becky Tracy, dynamic performers of the traditional music of Newfoundland, Quebec, Ireland, France and beyond. Becky’s amazing fiddle playing ranges from lively dance tunes to traditional slow airs. Keith plays guitar and sings in English and French. They’re a rare duo, as you can see by clicking here.

If you wish to participate from afar, we offer the option of joining as a virtual singer.

Ten weeks of rehearsals begin March 12, 7:30-9:30 at First Parish Church, 630 Mass Ave, in Arlington. We will perform a rousing concert at Cary Hall in Lexington on Tuesday, May 21.

Whether you’re a Mystic veteran, have taken a break for a little while, are brand new to the group, or even new to community singing in general, we hope you’ll join us for an uplifting and emotionally fulfilling Mystic Chorale Spring!

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Covid Vaccinations: Proof of vaccination is required for most people in the sanctuary.  A singer who is not vaccinated must bring evidence of a negative Covid test to rehearsal each week, must wear a mask at all events including the concert, and must sit behind the line in their sections.  No more than 3 unvaccinated singers will be allowed in each section.
  • Masks Optional:  Singers may sing masked or unmasked, as a matter of their personal comfort and preference.  We ask unmasked singers to stay aware and respectful of masked singers who may want to keep their distance from others without masks.
  • Please review our Health and Safety Guidelines before signing up.

TO SIGN UP:

You can sign up to sing as an in-person singer or a virtual singer.

VIRTUAL SINGING OPTION – For those who wish to participate from afar or who simply aren’t ready for live singing, we are excited to offer the option of joining as a virtual singer. The rehearsals and concert will be livestreamed and recorded, and the recordings will be posted on the Mystic Chorale website a few days later.  All virtual singers will receive PDF files of the music packet and access to all practice materials.

Please note that virtual singers may not perform in the concert, but you will receive a free livestream concert ticket as part of your tuition.
