Join 150+ Mystic Chorale singers this winter and enjoy a gospel season like none other! Led by Mystic Gospel Music Director Jonathan Singleton, singers will learn gospel songs including Walk in the Light, as sung by the Georgia Mass Choir, Halle, Halle, Hallelujah as sung by Judith McAllister and Coming Out of the Dark, as sung by Gloria Estefan.
Singers will also participate in singalongs and enjoy presentations by guest artists including jazz and gospel singer and Berklee voice professor Nichelle Mungo, Mystic favorite Athene Wilson and others! There will also be time devoted to developing vocal techniques and learning about the background and history of the Gospel tradition.
During these challenging times, Mystic Chorale is committed to maintaining and building our community. Weekly Zoom breakout sessions will enable singers to connect and get to know each other, regardless of their location (we had singers from 15 states last season!).
Mystic is offering extra flexibility during this year of singing virtually. All singers are invited to participate in the creation of a virtual choir video; however, those who choose not to contribute will find they can have a rich choral experience by joining in just for guest visits or for the sing-along portion or both. “Tech talk” will occur outside of rehearsal time; every other week will end with a tech session for the virtual choir video, so those opting out of participating in creation of the video can simply leave at 8:30.
On February 27th at 7:30 we will celebrate the end of the Gospel season with a fun evening mix of live music and the premiere of the video. We’ll have an informal gathering on March 2nd to wrap up and say good-bye.
