A message from Mystic Chorale Founder and Artistic Director, Nick Page:

If Woody Guthrie were alive today, I would leap at the chance to sing along with him.  In creating our spring season, I invited singer/songwriters who are today’s Woody Guthries, musicians whose music will impact our world for generations to come.   We will have a different guest each week, leading us in song.

In the weeks leading up to each guest’s visit, I will teach one or two of their songs so we can confidently sing along with them when they come.  I will also make videos that include the written lyrics to help us learn the songs ahead of time.  Most of our 3-part Tuesday sessions will open with our weekly guest, followed by my teaching the songs of future guests, and wrapping up with a home-grown segment during which songwriters from within the Mystic community can share their original songs.

We’re excited that Reggie Harris will work with us to make a video singing his song In The Shelter Of Each Other.

MORE ABOUT OUR SEASON:

A chance to connect from near and far
During these challenging times, Mystic Chorale is committed to maintaining and building our community. Zoom breakout sessions and musical games will enable singers to connect and get to know each other.

A flexible online experience
Mystic is offering extra flexibility during this year of singing virtually. All singers are invited to participate in the creation of a virtual choir video; however, those who choose not to contribute will find they can have a rich choral experience by joining in just for guest visits or for the singalong portion or both.   Those unable to contribute to the singing in the video will be invited, as an alternative, to submit photos of themselves performing acts of kindness. These will be included in the final product, enabling us to fully depict our spring community.

End-of-season online concert & celebration
On Saturday, May 22 at 7:30 we will celebrate the end of the season with a fun evening mix of live music and the premiere of the video.
