The goal of the Small Chorus is to offer a greater challenge for those who welcome it. The small chorus for Spring 2019 will perform James Taylor’s “New Hymn”.
Tuesday, Mar 26 – auditions with Nick for the small chorus at 6:30 and after rehearsal, in the sanctuary.
Tuesday, April 2 – auditions with Nick for the small chorus at 6:30 and after rehearsal, in the sanctuary.
Singers must demonstrate good phrasing, vowels, intonation, and the ability to pick up the music quickly. Singers chosen may end up singing another voice part (i.e. an alto might be asked to sing soprano or tenor).
You are expected to be able to sing your entire part, while using the sheet music, by April 9.

SOLO: Source of all we hope or dread
Sheepdog, jackal, rattler, swan
We hunt your face and long to trust
That your hid mouth will say again
TUTTI:Let there be light – A clear new day
SOLO: But when we thirst in this dry night
We drink from hot wells poisoned with the blood of children
And when we strain to hear a steady homing beam
Our ears are baulked by stifled moans
And howls of desolation from the throats of sisters, brother, wild men
Clawing at the gates for bread
TUTTI: Even our own feeble hands
Ache to seize the crown you wear
And work our private havoc through
The known and unknown lands of space
Absolute in flame beyond us
Seed and source of Dark and Day
Maker whom we beg to be
Our mother father comrade mate
SOLO: Til our few atoms blow to dust
Or form again in wiser lives
Or find your face and hear our name
In your calm voice the end of night
TUTTI: If dark may end
Wellspring gold of dark and day
Be here. Be now.
